Something Blue Ideas for Weddings
Do you have something old, something new, something borrowed and…something blue? This wedding tradition is simple, yet it means the most to some brides. The something blue is the one tradition where you can get the most creative.  Martha Stewart shares her pick for the top “25 Unique Ideas for Your ‘Something Blue'" on her Martha Stewart Wedding website. These are the top 8 from that list, and our own picks for your ‘something blue’.

  1. He put a ring on it why not make it blue?
Start out with a blue ring and you don’t have to worry about not having something blue with you on your wedding day. You can choose from the different shades of blue from blue topaz to sapphire.
  2. Sneak a monogram
Have your seamstress add an embroidered label with your monogram in blue thread under your dress with your wedding date. This adds even more meaning to your wedding dress and is a sneaky way of incorporating your something blue.
  3. Carry your something blue
Your something blue could be something as simple as having blue flowers in your bouquet. If you are already in love with the color blue, you could make your color theme blue.
  4. Use your groomsmen and bridesmaids attire
Have your groomsmen wear blue suits. You don’t have to go with a bright blue suit, navy still counts! With your bridesmaids, you could use any shade of blue dress or blue jewelry.
  5. Walk down the aisle in blue shoes
Slip on some blue heals, or even blue flats, and literally walk in your something blue. Think about comfort, but also think about how cute blue shoes would be!
  6. Don’t forget about the flower girl!
Your little cutie can also be your something blue in a blue flower girl dress.
  7. Call on Mom and Dad to help
Dress your mother in a beautiful blue dress for the big day, or have your father walk you down the aisle in a blue suit.
  8. Blue frost
The wedding cake is a perfect place to use your something blue. A powder blue frosting with white detail is breath taking!

Our Picks:

1.  If you’re feeling bold: Makeup
Your makeup could be your something blue, and if you’re feeling really crazy, you could wear blue lipstick!
2. Detachable skirt or tulle
You can even be creative and have your seamstress make you a blue skirt to wear over your dress. You can also replace the tulle underneath the dress with blue tulle. Have fun with it!

Whichever one you choose, you’ll look gorgeous on your wedding day!
