3 Romantic Proposal Ideas

Asking someone to marry you is a pretty big deal. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be a big surprise anymore - and we’re far past the point of the woman having to hang around and wait for her man to propose. Today, anyone can ask the big question and decide if they want to make it a grand gesture or just casually popping it during a weeknight dinner.

If you would like to plan it out a bit, though, it’s a good idea to look for inspiration before you decide on anything final. Here is a handful of great ways to propose to your SO if you’d like to make it as romantic as possible.

#1 Recreate your first date

Let’s start with one of the most usual and romantic proposal ideas. Do you remember how you spent your first date? It doesn’t really matter if you spent it at a fancy restaurant or if you cooked up something nice for him or her; recreate the setting, and they might be able to read the signs even before you’ve asked.

A cosy meal at home is always a winner, in any way, but the closer you make it to how your first date was, the more special it will be. Plus, you get to celebrate your anniversary by doing something meaningful each year and will have a dish that’s kind of symbolic to both of you.

While you certainly don’t have to have a big and fancy engagement ring, it’s a good idea to know what he or she might be expecting before you propose with a cute ring from a vending machine. Have a look at this London Gold engagement diamond, for example, and work your way through to find one that’s within your budget.

#2 Propose at the beach

A lot of people dream about getting married at the beach; the blue water, the creamy sand, and splashing waves tend to create a mood that’s hard to beat. What about doing it properly and actually proposing at the beach?

Suggest a walk by the water, for example, before you pop the question, and you’ll both have the memory of the sea when you think about the proposal. Try to sneak a blanket and a bottle of something fancy with you as well as long as he or she doesn’t get suspicious.

#3 Go for the view

No matter if you decide to propose at the beach or in the middle of the kitchen, you simply can’t beat a proposal with a good view. Make it a proper surprise by blindfolding your special someone before leading them to the place with a stunning view; perhaps the top of a building or somewhere romantic just as the sun is setting.

That way, you’ll be able to keep them on their toes until you’re down on one knee, and you can be in complete control of what you’re bringing without them having to know.
