If there's one thing that can make every man shake in his boots, it's the idea of trying to find the perfect engagement ring. After all, it's one of the few gifts that you really only ever get one chance at. There's not much of a chance that you'll be able to return it for something better, after that the magic's sort of gone. The moment of revealing the ring during the proposal is something a lot of people would consider to be the most important part. So that means that there's a lot of pressure to get it right, and sadly, a lot of people have no idea where to even start. Well, don't worry, because there are some very simple steps that you can follow in order to make sure that you find the perfect ring that's guaranteed to make them say, "I do." Check your budget There are a lot of rules about what you should spend on an engagement ring. You'll hear that you're supposed to spend two months pay or that anything cheaper than that is going to doom your wedding. The truth is that all of those things are utterly ridiculous. There is no rule about how much you're supposed to spend on an engagement ring. Actually, that's not quite true. There is one rule that you should follow: buy what you can afford! There's no need to cripple yourself trying to by a ring that's totally out of your price range. If the person that you want to marry feels the same way about you, then the price of the ring isn't really going to matter! Choose the style The cut of the diamond is just about the most important choice that you're going to have to make when you're trying to find a gorgeous ring for your partner, but it's not the only choice. Of course, the cut will affect the quality and polish of it, but you've also got to think about the shape and the style. Will your partner prefer a perfectly round shape or something with more of a pear shape to it? Would it be better to choose something simple and elegant, or has your partner been drooling over rose gold halo engagement rings? These are choices that you're going to have to make. It's a good idea to look at the kinds of jewelry that your partner tends to wear already. That will give you a good idea of the kind of style that they prefer. Make sure it fits This is probably the most common issue that a lot of people come up against. You might have found the perfect ring, and your partner has said that all-important "yes" but then it comes time to put the ring on their finger. And it won't go past their knuckle. Nothing puts a downer on the most magical moment of someone's life than getting the ring stuck halfway up their finger. When getting the ring made, try to sneak one of your partner’s rings away to show to the jeweler. If you're not able to do that, then you or your partner probably have a friend who you can use as a test subject to make sure that it's going to fit. That way nothing will happen to ruin the moment when you finally slip it over their finger for the first time. A lot of people end up getting themselves completely in a panic when they're trying to find the perfect ring or finally pop the question to their partner. And, to be fair, that's pretty understandable! After all, it's one of the biggest decisions that you and your partner will ever make and it's something that you'll want to be able to do perfectly. However, it's important to remember that the most important thing about your proposal is that, in that moment, you're asking the most important person in your life to spend the rest of their life with you. That by itself is such an amazing thing that you don't need to worry that every single little detail is going to be completely perfect. Sure, finding the perfect ring is important and something that you want to put a lot of time and thought into. But at the end of the day, it's what that ring represents that really matters: the promise that you and your and your partner have made to one another and the big day that you both have to look forward and plan together!
