Kids: Why You Should Allow Them At Your Wedding

There is a contentious issue when it comes to weddings and that’s whether or not you should invite children. Children are loud, disruptive and fun, and while some brides don't want any children interrupting their day, there are plenty of others who see the need to have children running around and being a part of their wedding. There is something so warm and wonderful about having children in a wedding. Little girls in flower dresses with garlands in their hair. Little boys in suits walking down the aisle, rings born on a cushion or two. Children are the product of many who love each other, and they are the perfect conclusion of a marriage for some people. Having children running around? You get that youthful charm and fun that a wedding can often be missing. 

The best age for flower girls is when they can be happily sprinkling petals and being adorable in their dresses, and children can be the perfect addition to the photos on the day, too. If you’re ever on the fence about including children in your wedding, you are better off believing that they’re an asset to the day rather than a hindrance.

Your wedding DJ can be handed a children’s list of songs to play early in the evening, where they can continue on with more adult beats as the day goes on. Children are a memorable addition but if you’re concerned, you can always ask for children to attend the reception and not the ceremony. If you have worries about the few children who may be a must at the ceremony, the best thing that you can do is hire a nanny or a babysitter to be there, too. Weddings are better with little ones, and we’ve got all the reasons that you should allow them at your wedding. 

1. They will look adorable. Those wedding photos are so much better with tiny little ones running around with floral crowns and innocent smiles. There are going to be plenty of happy relatives oohing and aahing as they walk down the aisle during the processional, and they’ll be encouraged to sprinkle their petals and offer cuddles to the older relatives who have missed out on seeing them. They’ll dance and sing, they’ll be cute and they will want as much love from everyone - which is cute!
   
2. It’s nice to be inclusive. If you are the person with children and someone told you that you had to leave your children out, you’ll be devastated. You should consider making sure that if you invite someone with a family, that their family is also welcome. You want your relatives to feel happy and included, and that’s one of the ways that you can do it. It’s a way to feel as if you are being the bridal party that cares. 
   
3. You can host as many as you like. Along with flower girls and junior ring bearers, you’ll want to allow the teens who come to be ushers and readers, candle lighters and toast masters. You can also get your flower girls to carry your veil or train, which will make them feel important!
   
4. Children won’t steal the show. Weddings are never about the kids. Even if you think that a screaming and sad newborn will steal the show, they won’t. They won’t be the star attraction at all - that’s you! You’ll be able to keep your children involved and as they have all gathered to see you on your day, you can bet that the majority of the children will be on their best behavior.
   
5. It’s your choice how many you invite. If you have friends with children, it won’t make it awkward for them to try and find childcare. They will feel like their children matter as much as they do, and that will make you feel like your day is complete. Your friends will love you for including their children, and the children will love you for allowing them to be a part of the day.
   
6. It’s an unforgettable day. Not only is it an unforgettable experience for you at your wedding, but the kids will remember it too, and that will make all the difference to them one day. You’ll be the person they have in their own childhood memories, and that can make a difference to how you feel, too. You’ll feel like your wedding has been perfect, and that’s all because you included the children in your family and friendship circles.
