Your wedding is a day where all eyes are going to be on you. You want to feel like the princess you envisaged yourself to be when you dreamt about your wedding growing up. And, you deserve to feel this way too. This blog post aims to give you a helping hand with that by providing some top tips on wedding makeup and the different colours you should consider going for on your special day.

What should you consider when having your makeup done for your wedding?

  • Think about the full picture – You need to consider your makeup in relation to the dress you are going to wear, how you are going to have your hair, and what jewellery you are going to wear. This is crucial. Your makeup may look stunning now, however, the effect can be totally different once you are all dressed up for your big day.
  • Picture perfect – Your choice of makeup needs to be made with photographs in mind. After all, you are going to be snapped consistently throughout your big day. There are certain types of makeup that can show up badly on camera. For instance, products with SPF need to be considered carefully.
  • Don’t forget waterproof mascara – As much as you try and fight it, there are likely to be tears on your wedding day. This is why you need a waterproof mascara. This may sound like an obvious point but you would not believe how many people overlook the importance of it.
  • Stick to what you love – Your wedding day makeup should be an enhancement of what you would typically wear. Stay true to yourself. If you go for something too different you are going to feel out of your comfort zone and there is an increased chance that you will dislike the make up a week or so later.

What colours are best for wedding makeup?

One of the most difficult decisions you need to make in relation to your wedding makeup is what colours to go for. This depends on an array of different unique factors, such as your skin tone. So, read on to discover how to select the right coloured wedding make up…

  • The season – Pick colours that are in line with the current season. For instance, if you are having a Christmas wedding why not consider reds, gold, and bronze?
  • Skin tone – If you have fair skin then it is recommended you opt for light shades of makeup, such as nudes, peaches and pastels. Those with olive skin are in luck because you can pretty much opt for any colour. If you have dark skin then you can really make your features pop with vibrant berry colours. A punchy blush or a bright red lipstick can look stunning.
  • Wedding location – If you are going to have a beach wedding it will look a bit odd if you walk down the aisle wearing dark and dramatic makeup. Make sure you coincide your make up with the setting of your wedding.
  • Your wedding theme - You also need to think about the theme you are having. What colour are your bridesmaids going to be wearing? How are you going to decorate the reception venue? What colour have you chosen for your wedding chair rentals and your table decor? What is the style of the table centrepieces? All of this comes together to dictate the overall vibe of the day, and you need to ensure your choice of makeup fits in with this. A soft and elegant venue doesn’t sit right with harsh and dramatic makeup.

How do you find the best makeup artist?

Last but not least, you need to make sure you find the best professionals to take care of your makeup. It is always recommended to look for someone who can provide you with the full package. It will be a lot cheaper and easier if you find someone who can take care of all aspects. Therefore, search for the full bridal pamper package; from makeup, to a manicure, to hair styling, to facials, to a pedicure.

So there you have it: the complete guide to wedding makeup. Hopefully, you now feel more prepared when it comes to getting your look right for your special day.
