Now that you are engaged, you will need to shop for and select your wedding dress. While there are many styles to choose from, the tips below will guide you in making the best bridal dress selection for you. Review Dresses Before you shop, review bridal magazines and read wedding blogs. You can also view the internet as sites like Pinterest will show you tons of dresses. Take the time to educate yourself! Give Yourself Time It can take up to six months or more to order a custom gown, depending on the designer. A dress off the rack takes little time. Either way, you have to give yourself time to find the dress that suits you. Don't forget to add an additional month for any necessary alterations--you will most likely need it! If time is of the essence, consider purchasing a formal gown off-the-rack. Stick With Your Budget Decide on how much you'll spend on your dress and stick to it. If a dress is $50 or $100 over your budget, consider spending the extra money, if you know it's the dress for you. If you spend hours or days of your time going from store to store to save $50 or $100 on your gown purchase, you may be wasting time and money. Don't Try On Too Many Dresses Most brides try on between four and seven gowns before choosing the right one. Brides should not try on more than ten dresses as it can lead to confusion. Once you find the right dress, stop shopping! Images via Mori Lee
