You’re engaged, you’re in love, and you’re ready to start planning the wedding. The excitement, exhilaration, stress and strain of preparing for a wedding is upon you. I’m sure you can’t wait. You’re probably thinking about every little aspect of what’s to come along with the big day, but one thing's for sure: you want to get married in another country. You want to do something different and away from the traditional notion. Perhaps if you’ve wanted this for a long, long time, you’ll know pretty much what to do from top to bottom, inside and out. But if you want a destination wedding and haven’t the faintest clue about what to think about, here are a few basic points to help you. Where!
Yes, it may seem like the most basic question you’ll ever have, but you may have pictured a beautiful, old castle or a warm beach for the event without actually doing a little research into what might be out there – and what might be available! This is the most fundamental point in your checklist for a destination wedding, but it will have to be thought out. Some people tend to get ahead of themselves with the finest of details before finding out it wouldn’t suit the area or that the place isn’t what they initially thought it would be. Money Making sure you have enough for a wedding is a given. With all of the costs to cover for everything that will be involved in your day, you’ll want to make sure nothing is left out. This is then heightened somewhat when you’re having to think about doing it all in a completely different place. Of course, the cost of travel to and from the country in question is important, but the price of everything over there might be different from what you’re used to. Getting The Right Planner Acquiring the wedding planner for us is something that we all want, but when it comes to a destination wedding, you might want to get in touch with someone who knows the place and knows exactly what it takes for a successful marriage in the particular area you want. Everyone Else! If you are going somewhere miles and miles away, you might want to give the potential guests a long while to plan things for themselves, too! Make sure you give them details and help as they won’t know anywhere near as much about the place and the event as you do. The Rules And Laws Do a little research what is and what isn’t allowed in the country. You may end up breaking some rules that you didn’t know existed! For example, in some countries, there are alcohol restrictions. Also, you might want to check the legality of the nuptial itself; in some cases, people will have to formally register back home and have the big event abroad. The Weather Finally, it’s an excellent idea to look up the type of climate you’re potentially heading into. Not just if it’ll be sunny, rainy or snowy, but we’re talking about being prepared for the likes of any potentially hazardous weather events.
