A marriage is a very personal thing between two people, but they are never private because of all the guests. Even a wedding with just a couple of witnesses means that it will never be just the two of you, and it is great if in some way you can add some personal touches to your special day. This will make it feel that at least there are things that are about you both, and it will give you and your guests some memories to treasure. Photographs
At most weddings lots of photographs will be taken, often by a professional photographer as well as by guests on their smartphones. You could have photos in place before it gets that far though. Some of both of you from a tiny baby through to today could be placed around the venue, and maybe even adorn the aisles. This will give a touch of nostalgia, and everyone loves that. Pick The Colors You could ask that the guests all stick to certain colors for their wedding outfits. A choice of 5 or 6 is enough for everyone to be able to find something, and then have the venue décor in the same ones. You can even have sweets in the same tones, and some of them you can have your names and the date printed on. Use the colors on everything including the invitations and the bridesmaid’s dresses. Then surprise them at the meal by serving a cocktail that is one of the colors, or maybe the soup has the tone of one of them. Personalized Wedding Rings The wedding rings are an important part of the day and why not make them even more special by designing them yourself? Designing a ring for men is fairly straightforward from the outside, but perhaps on the inside, you could have something engraved. This could be both your names and the date or maybe a fingerprint from you both. Designing a ring for women is not quite so easy. Usually. they will want it to be similar to the man’s ring, but also it will need to look good when it is worn with an engagement ring as well. The inside can still be personalized, although they are often smaller than a man’s ring so there is not so much room for the engraver to work. Stories People love stories, so why not include the story of how you two met and decided to get married as part of your wedding program? You should keep it light-hearted and humorous where possible, as you do not want your guest’s tears to be for anything other than happiness. Your program will be even more of a souvenir for them with this included, and there will not be many left lying around afterward. Add A Personal Touch To Your Bouquet It is easy to add a personal touch to your bouquet. Have some photos hanging from it, perhaps of loved ones that are no longer around. This can be a way of feeling they are with you on your special day. Or you could have a paper rose made from a sheet that has all your vows written on them and keep this as a reminder of how wonderful your wedding was. Personal Drink Labels Have personalized labels made for the bottles of wine that will be on the tables to have with the meal. If your food is buffet style, this can still be done as the guests will take the food back to their table to eat it. You could even have the drinks behind the bar adorned with your labels as well. They are not expensive to get printed, and will easily fit over the existing bottle labels. Getting Guests Together At any wedding, there will be lots of guests who do not know each other. One of the best ways to get them talking if for the food to be sharing dishes, such as a cheese fondue, or a chocolate fountain for dessert. It is great to see everyone getting on at a wedding, and that no one is left sitting by the wall on their own. Video Guestbook When your photographer has finished all the standard photos, get then to set a video camera up where it is visible for the guests to find. Ask them to record personal messages for you both, and then when you are back from your honeymoon you will have many happy memories created by these.
